South Lake Church is a community of believers in Crown Point, Indiana that exists to connect all people to CHRIST, his COMMUNITY, and his CALLING. God established this church for the people of Lake and Porter counties (The Region), so that we could lead those people into a transformational relationship with God. Our vision is to positively impact those we come into contact with in such a way that needs are met, people are healed, and lives are forever changed.
“We desire to exalt Christ through the ministry of the Word, which empowers us by the Holy Spirit to offer up our lives as sacrifices of praise to God. Corporate worship is a dialogue between God and His gathered people. God initiates worship by speaking to us through His Word and calling us to respond. We respond to Him in faith as we sing His praises, pray, give financially, obey his Word, and commit our lives in service to Him.”
The primary goal of the worship ministry is to raise up genuine worshipers of the Triune God. Secondly, we want to identify, equip, and mobilize individuals who will humbly and skillfully serve to fulfill God’s purposes for the local church. This internship program will aid in the overall vision of the worship ministry through mentoring, training, and providing experience to college students interested in vocational ministry.
The purpose of the internship program is to offer a broad scope of exposure to Christian ministry and to partner a student’s core university education with practical ministry experience in a local church setting. Our hope is that both the intern and church body would be mutually edified throughout this program.
Although the internship will be flexible to address each student’s overall vocational goals and aspirations, the worship internship will provide insight and direction in the following areas as they relate to worship ministry – theology, vocational experience, and worship leadership.
At the conclusion of this internship, our hope is to have provided meaningful ministry experiences in a variety of disciplines, a vocational insight that will help each student in his/her future calling, valuable mentorship by the worship team, opportunities to develop relationships within the worship team and a significant investment in a local church body.
Although you do not have to be a member, it is expected that an intern will fully invest in the ministry of the church throughout the program.
Yes, depending on the intern’s abilities and desires, we will work towards service leadership. In addition, an intern will have weekly responsibilities of playing/singing with the worship band on Sunday mornings.
Yes, it will be best that the student is able to coordinate his/her own travel.
